Course Registration



SCIENCE

AP Biology: Prerequisite: Students must earn a B+ or better in Biology 15 for the first semester and a B+ or better for a final grade. Previous science teacher recommendation is required. Applicants need to attend an informational meeting on February 27.  

AP Chemistry: Prerequisite: Students must earn a B+ or better in Chemistry 15 for the first semester and a B+ or better for a final grade. Previous science teacher recommendation is required. Students must have completed Algebra 2. Applicants must attend an informational meeting on February 27 during the 9:30 block. 

AP Physics 1: Rising juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for AP Physics if they have 1) earned a grade of 90 or above in Physics 15 and 2) demonstrated very strong math aptitude by earning a 90 or above in Algebra 2-15. Rising sophomores may take AP Physics but will need to currently have an overall average of at least a 95 in Quantitative Physics and maintain this average through the end of the year, a 90 or above in Algebra 2-15 or, in very rare cases, Geometry 15, and demonstrate a range of dispositions that include independence, initiative, strong participation, and advocacy skills, and the ability to navigate uncertainty and confusion by being resourceful and tenacious. Students with a particularly full schedule (7 classes or a busy extracurricular schedule) will likely find the workload very demanding. Interested students must attend an informational meeting on February 27 during the 9:30 block.    

AP Environmental Science: Prerequisite: Students in 11th grade who have completed Chemistry and earned a B+ or better in a Biology course for the first semester and a B+ or better for a final grade. Students interested in AP Environmental Science should attend an informational meeting on February 27 during the 930 block.

*Students interested in pursuing multiple AP Science courses should contact the Science Department Chair, Ms. Joan Ryder, to schedule an alternative time to learn more about the AP Informational meeting they could not attend.
