AP Statistics
CLICK HERE FOR COURSE DESCRIPTION This course uses mathematics to conclude data – similar to a science class that uses math as a tool. You are a good candidate for AP Stats if you are willing to work consistently outside of class for at least 45 to 60 minutes 5 times a week and are eager to read the textbook. The willingness and ability to think through problems independently is required.
Students wishing to take AP Statistics must indicate their interest by conferring with their current math teacher and seeking that teacher's recommendation. To be recommended, a student currently enrolled in Algebra II (15) should exceed course expectations and receive the teacher's recommendation and department approval to dual enroll in Precalculus (15) and AP Statistics. A student enrolled in Precalculus (10) should exceed course expectations and have the teacher's recommendation. A Precalculus (15) student or any Calculus class should meet course expectations and have the teacher's recommendation. Students who enroll in AP Statistics and another AP math course must be able to keep up with two fast-paced curricula.
Students interested in pursuing an AP math class must attend an informational meeting beginning in March to learn more about the AP math courses.
