Welcome to the course selection and scheduling process for the upcoming school year. Each February, we host a comprehensive presentation to guide students through key dates and expectations. Our goal is to partner with families to craft a personalized schedule that appropriately challenges every student while supporting their continued academic growth.

COURSE REGISTRATION TIMELINE

The following timeframe outlines the annual process for course selection and registration:

EARLY MARCH

  • College Counseling Check-ins: Rising eleventh and twelfth-grade students meet with college counselors for brief check-in meetings. These sessions focus on aligning course selections with long-term college goals.
  • Advisor Meetings: Current ninth, tenth, and eleventh-grade students meet with their advisors to discuss teacher recommendations and selections for the upcoming school year.
  • Four-Year Plan Updates: Advisors work with students to adjust their four-year plans based on interests and aspirations. Following these meetings, updated plans are shared with families.

MID-MARCH

  • Incoming Freshman Outreach: Families of rising ninth-grade students receive an email from the Registrar and the Head of Upper School regarding ninth-grade curriculum and elective options.
  • Registration System Opens: The course request system (My NSCD) opens for families to begin submitting selections.

LATE MARCH INTO EARLY APRIL

  • Consultation Period: Families are encouraged to reach out to advisors, the Registrar, or the Head of Upper School with any remaining questions regarding course options.
  • Registration Deadline: The course request period officially ends, and the online system closes for the season.

ACCESSING "COURSE REQUESTS" IN MY NSCD

STUDENTS

When the course request section opens:
  1. Go to My NSCD and, from the landing page (My Day), click on Course Requests 
  2. Once you reach the course requests page, you will see instructions at the top. If you have any questions about the recommendations you see or how to enter requests, email Mr. Frederick or Ms. Aiston.
  3. When you finish adding your requests, click SAVE in the bottom-right corner of the page.

PARENTS and GUARDIANS

When the course request section opens:
  1. Go to My NSCD and, from the landing page, select your upper school student from the dropdown labeled Children (upper left-hand corner of the screen).
  2. Locate and click on Course Requests (center of the page) 
  3. Once you reach the course requests page, you will see instructions at the top. If you have any questions about the recommendations you see or how to enter requests, email Mr. Frederick or Ms. Aiston.
  4. When you finish adding your requests, click SAVE in the bottom-right corner of the page.
